The Second Annual Pet Blogger Challenge.

The Second Annual Pet Blogger Challenge.

The Second Annual Pet Blogger Challenge allows other pet bloggers to learn why we blog about animals, and how it’s working out.

Any pet blogger can participate. Just answer the questions on your own blog and join the link list below!

1. When did you begin your blog?

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?

  • I have worked with animals for most of my life, between volunteering in animal shelters and becoming a dog groomer. There was a change in my life that prompted my exit from the animal profession and ever since I’ve been dying to get back in it. Blog Four Paws is my way of contributing back to the animal world and sharing the knowledge I have with other pet parents, and allows me to connect with them and other animal lovers.

3. Is your current purpose the same?

  • Yes, my purpose remains the same. Educating, Connecting and Sharing with pet parents and animal lovers to improve the quality of life of pets.

If not, what’s different?

  • Not Applicable.

If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals?

  • I feel as though I am still pursuing my goals, I would love to connect with more pet parents and other pet bloggers to share and expand on the knowledge we currently have to make a difference in the pet community.

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?

If the former, how often — and what techniques do you use to stick to it?

If the latter, do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)?

  • Honestly, a little of both. I do not have a set schedule for writing, but I do stick to a certain time frame to get my writing done. I do not like to go more than 3 or 4 days without writing something, and usually I write when time allows me.

5. Are you generating income from your blog?

  • Not currently.

If so, how (e.g. sponsor ads, affiliate relationships, spokesperson opportunities)?

If not currently, do you hope to in the future — and how?

  • I hope to generate an income from this blog in the future, by networking with different partners, advertising and  writing opportunities.

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?

  • I enjoy blogging because I feel you can make a difference in the lives of others be sharing knowledge. What I like most about my blog in particular is even if one pet parent uses the information they have learned here, it’s worth everything I have put into the blog and more. Improving the quality of life for pets is something I have been striving to do my whole life.

7. What do you like least?

  • You on’t always know if anyone is reading through the information you have provided, and you don’t know if your readers (if you have readers) are finding the things you have posted useful or informative.

8. How do you see your blog changing/growing in 2012?

  • I see Blog Four Paws gaining more exposure this year between events, networking and guest writing opportunities I hope to expand my reach further into the pet world.

Thanks for participating in the challenge! This is my first visit to your blog and I love the design. Like you, I’m a big fan of animals, mac and cheese, and using my blog to make a difference. It looks like I’ll be back.

  • Tootsie

I love the design of your blog and your focus on sharing pet information! I’m looking forward to reading more from you in the dogosphere!

    Keep on wagging,

  • Kenzo

I can definitely relate to that. It is hard to measure the real value/change you have on people, but so very necessary. It is one of those awesome moments when one of them decides to send you some feedback, I am sure you are going to love it when that happens :) I cherish those moments above anything else.
Glad I found your blog through the PBC.

So nice to meet you, Lauren. We surely have a lot in common. Thanks for sharing your love for dogs and blogging goals. You’ve had a terrific start and I look forward to watching you grow! Oh, and I sure did read to the bottom to get every last bit of info. No need to guess. Kenzo is right about the immeasurable value of feedback. I wasn’t aware of the effect my blog has had until today when people came out and told me. I’m astounded, moved, and very, very grateful.

PS: Adding you to my Google Reader…

Welcome to blogging! I’m stopping by from the Pet Blogger Challenge to say Hi. I’m another person who used to work with pets (groomer, vet assistant, etc) and am now out of it.  Blogging is definitely a way to stay involved and even make a difference.

  • Pup Fan

So nice to discover your blog through the Challenge!  I have a feeling we’re going to get along based on the names of your pups alone… I have to say, quite awesome. :)

Adding you to my Google Reader as we speak… er, type.

  • Janet Finlay

Can so relate to wondering if anyone is reading – can be so hard to know but reading others experiences on this challenge is quite reassuring! Just LOVE your dogs and their names. HP fan myself. WIll be coming back to visit.

It’s so cool to read about the history of your blog! It’s great seeing the growth of your blog over time… and the fact that it’s only been around since September is crazy! I’m glad that your purpose has stayed the same over time… improving the quality of life for all pets is so important, and it’s so great that you are doing what you can to help that. I hope that your blog continues to grow into the pet world, because I’d love to see more from you! Best for 2012!

I’m belatedly stopping by from the Bloggers Challenge. :)  I haven’t visited your blog before, and I really like your design and lay out. It’s very appealing and neat.  All the best for your blogging adventures in 2012.

    • Lauren McGregor

      Thanks so much :)

  • Colby

We found your blog through the pet blogger’s challenge. I took a peek at a few of your articles and your about page.  It’ll be nice to hear some information on dog grooming especially since we just started raising a Golden Retriever.  His coat seems to require a little more attention then my Labs.

    • Lauren

Thanks so much for the feedback Colby! I am currently working on a grooming series to be posted shortly :) Thanks again for coming by.

      • Colby

Thanks Lauren!  I can’t wait to read your grooming series.

Awe … Sorry we missed this challenge!! Like you it is the not knowing if readers find things interesting that bothers us the most.
